Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you
Jesus Christ and the American G.I.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom

What can the Chaplain do for me?

My primary job as Chaplain of the V. L. O. A. is to conduct the Sunday morning worship service at our reunions. In addition, should you have the need to talk with someone who has "been there, done that," I am available to listen.

I have been asked to initiate prayer requests using email from time to time. I thought it might be more effective to post prayer requests here on our web site. So if you know of a family or one of our own in need of our spiritual support, send a simple email request describing the need and the person or family in need, to me at the address below.

If you want to talk, call: 352-341-1390
Send Prayer Requests and other communications to:  Maverick36@tampabay.rr.com

Standing Prayer Request: while most Prayer Requests will remain on the page for 30 days, here is a request that will remain as long as we have uniformed men and women stationed abroad. Please repeat this short prayer often and ask you friends and family to include it in their daily prayers:

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the selfless acts
they perform for us in our time of need.
I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.   Amen.

Devotional

February 2008

I know I am getting old!  It finally dawned on me when I realized I was reading the obituaries every day. And NO I have not found my name yet.

But this brings me to a reality; We all are getting older.  Shoudn't we decide now about our final arrangements?  For most of us, this is a no-brainer. We will be laid to rest in a National Cemetery. But there are other things that need our consideration: "Will I leave enough money for my burial? What about bills?  Other financial obligations?"  Also, is it fair to the one that will handle these details, to have to deal with them in a time of grief?

Because Ruth and I considered these questions, we decided on pre-paid, pre-arranged funerals for each of us. Our children will never have to worry about what we wanted, how it will be paid for, and the hundred and one details that come at a time such as this. You might say "we're packed and ready for deployment."

Oh yes, there are a couple more choices you should finalize:

     Smoking or No Smoking?

     Up or Down

Considering making pre-arrangements for your funeral makes sense.

Jesus said: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth in him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."
